Youth Drug Impact Project (YDIP)

YDIP will help youth understand the influences that affect their choices, increase access to effective prevention and intervention services, broaden continuum of effective prevention strategies, increase ability of youth to reduce at risk behaviour, increase ability of youth to develop healthier life skills and coping strategies, increase awareness of youth regarding impact of drug use and criminal involvement on selves and others.
Presenters will discuss their life experience and involvement with drug/alcohol use and/or criminal activities, workshops will focus on communication, values, beliefs and attitudes and major life areas.
YDIP is targeting 13 – 18 year olds, Youth who are currently experimenting with drugs and/or alcohol and may be involved with the justice system.
Youth will participate in 6 sessions over 3 weeks, new group each month. Discussions on the impacts of drugs and possible connections to criminal behaviour. Presenters will share their experiences, consequences of their actions and how they are making changes in their lives..
Goals:
Reduce the influence of risk factors and increase protective factors associated with drug use for youth who are at risk for conflict with the law.
